    The Quality Engineering Leader is a Change Agent to move a manufacturing company forward from an antiquated system and building into a new facility and changing the culture of Quality.  10+ yeas of management level experience preferred leading industrial Quality in a manufacturing environment in heavy industry such as automotive, aviation/aerospace, heavy industrial equipment manufacturing.  You will lead the initiative of changing a Quality culture to a "build quality in culture" versus "inspecting quality in".  Plans, coordinates, and directs quality engineering program designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Formulates and maintains quality engineering objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
    • Manages and Supervising the Metallurgy Lab and processes.
    • Interprets quality engineering philosophy to key personnel in organization.
    • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
    • Applies statistical process control (SPC) and Six Sigma methodologies to analyze data for evaluating the current process and process changes.
    • Ensure NMD and PPAP processes are being rigorously followed.
    • Actively involved in manufacturing/quality process planning including CAPPs and traditional formats.
    • Reviews all data obtained during all quality engineering activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
    • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality engineering activities and leads the quality engineering organization in applying Advanced Product Quality Process techniques to overall process improvement.
    • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality engineering activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
    • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
    • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality engineering activities.
    • Facilitate problem investigation and resolution between internal process team members, support groups, and customers.
    • Drive Root Cause Corrective Action investigations to prevent defects and train employees on it.
    • Directs and oversees the internal production non-conforming product control and disposition processes
    • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality engineering codes and standards.
    • Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
    • Designs and implements quality engineering training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
    • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality and serves as a member of the Product Assessment Group (PAG).

    Other Duties:

    • Drives execution of Lean Principles and Operating System initiatives.
    • Implements cross training plans to best support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost and Operating System commitments.
    • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Quality procedures and practices.
    • Participate in audits (internal and external) and work with Facility Quality Managers to rectify any findings.
    • Lead quality investigations as a result of product performance problems, customer complaints, audit requirements or product safety & integrity issues
    • Relevant Quality experience gained within an Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Environment.
    • Fluent with airworthiness requirements and standards per FAA/EASA a plus
    • Strong influencer with the ability to drive a step change in approach to quality assurance.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills for effectively engaging team members and stakeholders

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering plus Master's degree (M. A.) and ten 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

    Ability to develop presentations and write articles for publication that deal with complex manufacturing/quality issues.

    Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
