    The Quality Assurance QA SUPERVISOR plans and executes strategic initiatives to ensure food safety and expand the Quality Systems of the organization. Manage and direct all aspects of quality assurance to reach optimum quality and efficiency. This is a 120 union Food & Beverage plant with a multibillion dollar food co in the Midwest offering many paths for growth opportunities at one of their 50 other plant locations in North America or Corporate food safety quality & research & development departments in the Midwest!

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required in biology, chemistry, food science or related field plus 2+ years of experience in food production ie. dairy, snacks, meals, nutraceutical, beverages, pet food, meat, coffee etc. any FDA, USDA regulated production.
    • Previous supervisory experience required.
    • FSPCQI certified, HACCP certified, SQF certification required.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with manufacturing management in improving and expanding our quality assurance procedures to ensure food safety is at the forefront at all times, reduce returns/complaints, reduce scrap, and provide follow-up activities on corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
    • Establish and maintain appropriate Quality Systems. Ensure compliance with in-house and/or external specifications and standards to include HACCP (FSMA) and GMP. Actively contribute to the data collections, trend analysis, investigation and improvements to processes, products and systems.
    • Work with quality and manufacturing to create and/or modify methods and procedures to ensure that appropriate processes and/or products are developed, tests are conducted and that products, materials, and manufacturing equipment meet required standards.
    • Lead and support GFSI Certification and any other quality related certifications at the plant.
    • Design, evaluate, implement and maintain quality assurance programs and systems for product and/or process development, manufacturing and testing to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Support QA Director’s initiatives
    • Manage the day-to-day quality assurance of food products produced and shipped.
    • Responsible for the implementation and management of the internal Quality Audit procedure and schedule.
    • Design, evaluate, implement and maintain quality assurance programs and systems for product and/or process development, manufacturing and testing to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Manage Sanitation programs in concert with the Sanitation department to ensure safe food and quality products.
    • Track and initiate investigation of complaint trends.
    • Assures the development and utilization of equipment calibration and preventative maintenance systems.
    • Manage product hold release programs.
    • Manage QA Associate and Technicians.
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    • Highly developed leadership skills to ensure all quality programs meet current customer and corporate expectations.
    • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
