    Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and managing the employees, work activities and resources necessary for the sanitation process of manufacturing equipment and environment during the 3rd shift of operation. This includes supervision of Sanitation Supervisors, sanitarians and janitors; including successful employee transitions from plant manufacturing to sanitation and sanitation to plant manufacturing. These duties are to be performed in accordance with established occupational safety, food safety, quality, cost, regulatory and quantity specifications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    85% Sanitation Management Process

    • Plan and manage the execution of sanitation processes including the master sanitation clean-up schedule, chemical inventory levels, permits, licenses, applications and records in compliance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Master Sanitation Schedule, occupational safety and organic integrity requirements.
    • Provides continued leadership and guidance to sanitation supervisors and employees.
    • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
    • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
    • Through coordination with other departments, ensures that the facility is prepared for cleaning by ensuring there is an effective shut down and start up of the production process while maintaining the compliance on the sanitation processes.
    • Recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification.
    • Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs.
    • Institute employee suggestion or involvement programs.
    • Develops positive partnerships with other operational functions (i.e. maintenance or human resources) and suppliers to ensure human capital, equipment, production and sanitation processes are used in the most effective/efficient manner to meet or exceed manufacturing targets.
    • Recommend and/or manages continuous improvement in a way that engages employees and functional partners in systematic, effective and collaborative manner.
    • Spends approximately 80% of time on the production floor engaging with employees and overseeing plant operations.
    • Cooperate with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical requirements are met.
    • Drives Food Safety and GMP compliance to assure a successful food safety culture. Ensures food safety protocols without fail. Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety.
    • Participates in emergency and crisis management teams.
    • Ensures all aspects of plant KPI’S are being reviewed and communicated to operations team and recommends ways to improve.
    • Manage the Sanitation Training Program and execute training sessions to maintain compliance with Company and Regulatory requirements.
    • Drives Food Safety with supervisors and managers to ensure compliance with all Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazard Communication, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
    • 15 % Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of food/consumer goods manufacturing experience with increasing levels of responsibility and authority including 1+ years of sanitation management experience desired.
    • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification or completion of Preventive Controls for Human Food course strongly preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Up-to-date knowledge of State and Federal food safety regulations, relevant legislation, Good Management Practices (GMP) and preventive controls (including HACCP) programs.
    • Technical knowledge of manufacturing operations and operational support functions (cleaning and sanitization, plant maintenance, planning, safety, quality and human resources).
    • Computer skills – Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with multi-level audiences; bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred; must be willing to acquire Spanish language skills as required.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
    • Excellent planning/organization skills.
    • Able to write reports, business correspondence and standard operating procedures (SOP).
    • Able to work under tight deadlines in a manufacturing environment and respond to “on call” hours as needed.
    • Lead through influence - Develops effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
    • Change Management – Adaptable to a fast paced, shifting work environment; willing to remain flexible to accommodate changing business conditions, work requirements and scheduling needs.
