    PRODUCTION MANAGEr for Food plant startup to plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing F&B CPG products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.  This plant is manufacturing and supplying unique premium dried pet food ingredients together with extracting feed stocks from biomass for the renewable fuel industry.

    The company is customer-focused and will work to meet unique product needs. They also actively participate in industry associations including PFI and AFIA as well as the Pet Sustainability Coalition. Company introduced a shelf-stable dried beef which is unique booth with respect to source materials and process.  

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Monitor and evaluate all Production Department operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.
    • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
    • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
    • Develop and implement plant performance tracking or systems, analyzing efficiency, yield, waste, down time and labor cost.
    • Full shift responsibility for over production staff including determining work load, delegating assignments, training, monitoring, evaluating performance and coaching. Additional sample tasks include:
    • oHire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances.
    • Ensure a cohesive, efficient, hostile-free work environment Lead daily Operations Staff meeting.
    • Lead weekly tailgate meetings with employees
    • Lead bi-weekly meetings with Supervisors
    • Lead bi-weekly meetings with Operators.
    • Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
    • Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
    • Participate in all required training sessions.
    • Follow all Company food safety protocols without fail.
    • Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety.
    • Cooperate with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical requirements are met.
    • Comply with all company rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and GMP Good Manufacturing Practices

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of Food & Beverage goods.
    • ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGe - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
    • TRAINING - Ability to develop a particular skill in others to bring them up to a predetermined standard of work performance.
    • CUSTOMER AND PERSONAL SERVICE KNOWLEDGE - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
    • EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) Preferred
    • EXPERIENCE - Four to ten years related experience in Manufacturing
    • CERTIFICATIONS - APICS certification a plus. HACCP/HARPC required. Knowledge of BRC or SQF protocols
    • Strong knowledge of FOOD SAFETY regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices and USDA guidelines as they related to food manufacturing.
    • PLANT START-UP OR PLANT EXPANSION experience highly desired
