    Job Description

    We are recruiting for a driven, adaptable individual as an Associate to join the Capital Solutions Group in the Credit Investments department with a particular focus on Latin America Credit. The Capital Solutions Group invests in corporate debt of non-investment grade sponsored and non-sponsored issuers in the Americas. The group focuses on liquid and illiquid debt across the capital structure in the primary and secondary markets, including first lien loans, second lien loans, unitranche loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, bridges, mezzanine debt and preferred equity.

    The Associate will work on Latin America and North America credit opportunities, including but not limited to private loans, HY bonds, structured credit, and special situations, across the capital structure and a variety of industries and countries, collaborating with the wider Credit Investments group. The Associate will work in small teams evaluating direct lending investment opportunities, conducting research, building financial models, developing recommendations, participating in the negotiation and execution of investments, monitoring and managing investments.

    Capital Solutions Groups currently manages assets in excess of $25 billion, with individual investment size range targets from $100 million to over $1 billion and has over 30 investment professionals.

    Role-Specific Accountabilities:

    • Research, analyze and evaluate credit investment opportunities across the capital structure
    • Build financial models to assist in investment evaluation, structuring and financing
    • Prepare and present investment recommendations to Investment Committees
    • Assist in the negotiation of key deal terms, including legal documentation, and running a full private deal process
    • Collaborate and manage relationships with various counterparties both internally and externally (investment banks, private equity sponsors, other lenders, etc.)
    • Develop relationships with management teams as part of monitoring portfolio companies
    • Ongoing monitoring of portfolio investments and reporting performance highlights to Investment Committees
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 2 to 4 years of experience post undergraduate studies in either credit investing or at a financial services firm focused on leveraged finance, debt capital markets, private equity, consulting, corporate banking, or investment banking
    • Demonstrated exposure and interest in Latin America
    • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
    • Track record of academic achievement and professional advancement
    • Strong critical thinking, analytical and research skills including experience evaluating and building financial models
    • Solid, demonstrated oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in conducting complicated due diligence work under a compressed timeline, contributing to deal sourcing activities and working with external stakeholders (e.g., management, sponsors, investment banks, etc.)
    • Ability to provide insightful thoughts regarding relative value across the capital structure and between different credits
    • Strong intellectual curiosity, a fast learner, and a team player

    Additional Information

    The salary range for this position is $145,000 – $200,000.

    US state/city legislation requires CPP investments to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The base salary range shown here is a reasonable expectation for the posted role and is part of a competitive total rewards package which includes comprehensive benefits, a performance-based incentive plan, a 401 (k) plan and paid time off. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
