Job Description
The Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs servicing auto manufacturers globally.
Training, coaching, mentoring packaging processes throughout the product value streams.
Assist with department financials and budgets.
Maintain packaging inventory and engineering systems.
Must be able to able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Identify and implement cost savings initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation and storage. Industry 4.0 solutions.
Design, develop, and approve component and finished goods packaging that minimizes risk of product damage, presents the product optimally to the manufacturing department, and maximizes pack density, all while minimizing cost, utilizing best practices.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
Interact with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, purchasing, planning, quality, as well as Central Departments to determine the most suitable design and quantity of packaging, and successfully implement these concepts on a defined timeline.
Qualifications
3 years’ experience in a package engineering role.
