Job Description
The successful candidate will have the ability to program, design and document laboratory environments under the guidance of an Architect and/or Senior Lab Planner. This position requires close and effective interaction and collaboration with laboratory end users to understand functional and design requirements. Project size, type and responsibility will vary, including renovation and new construction opportunities. This position will require a high level of coordination with others within a team environment. Project work may include all levels of design, including studies, conceptual design, design development, detailed design and construction administration.
Core Responsibilities
Documentation of laboratory systems including casework, utility services and equipment.
Meet with users to develop programmatic requirement to develop facility layout.
Collaborate with the project team to develop planning modules, lab organizational strategies and service distribution concepts
Participate in ongoing business development activities related to laboratory planning.
Assist in developing marketing material to convey CRB’s lab planning expertise to new and existing clients.
Assist in project resource planning and schedule creation for lab planning discipline as part of proposal generation.
Participate in marketing presentations and client interviews.
Mentor junior Lab Planning staff and support ongoing professional development.
Participate in industry events and contribute to trade publications.
Qualifications
Architectural licensure in practicing states and NCARB Certification
Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office suite
Familiarity with Enscape and other visualization software
Relevant knowledge of International Building Code, NFPA Standards, OSHA Regulations and ADA Standards
Ability to communicate and interface effectively with clients and internal design team
Flexibility for moderate travel in support of project-based or training activities
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification or similar sustainability credentials
Knowledge of, and/or experience with programming and planning projects in the Life Science industry, including R&D laboratories and pilot plants for biotechnology, pharmaceutical and high tech clients in public, private or academic sectors.
Experience with international clients and/or projects.
