    Job Description

    The Entry-Level Process Engineer must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual who shall possess the skills required to successfully develop and execute project tasks and deliverables, be a collaborative team player, and have a strong drive to deliver to customers. This person will work under the direction of experienced Process Engineers to develop and implement process deliverables and designs on technically complex projects, coordinating with architects and mechanical, I&C, and electrical engineers and also client personnel. Project sizes will vary, and will consist primarily of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial process projects including both existing renovations / retrofits and new construction. 

     RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for supporting the documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other discipline
    • Work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design
    • Expected to self-check one’s own work but communicate often with peers and Supervisor
    • Work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor or mentor
    • Project work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Supporting the documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other disciplines
    • Works on matters of basic complexity in a support role under the direction of more experienced Process Engineers
    • Engineering deliverables include:
      • Block & Process Flow Diagrams
      • User Requirements Specifications
      • Equipment List
      • Equipment General Arrangements
      • Equipment Datasheets
      • Utility Summary
      • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or bioprocess engineering
    • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
    • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations, developing and implementing list of discipline systems designs
    • Fundamental experience with the chemistry / biochemistry
    • Fundamental experience with process modeling, material and energy balances and basic sizing calculations
    • Fundamental experience with fluid mechanics, hydraulic modeling and fundamental heat transfer
    • Strong communication skills and ability to participate in internal cross-discipline project team coordination
    • Proficient at fundamental discipline design calculations under the supervision of an engineer required
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD desirable
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
    • Proficiency in engineering software applications including computer aided drafting, process modeling and calculation programs is desired.
