    Job Description

    The Mechanical Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Mechanical deliverables. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Mechanical Engineer. This individual may also delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff. They are still developing and expanding their ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines, delegate, interact with clients, and manage scopes of work and deliverables. This role will have the ability to successfully support all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration. The Individual will expand their knowledge and skill set to include design and specification of more complex mechanical systems, including HVAC and mechanical utility systems and equipment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Interface with client and external partners
    • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight
    • Participate and contribute to squad and overall commitment to producing quality deliverables
    • Provide mentorship to Mechanical Designer I
    • Participate in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from lead or Senior Engineer
    • Successfully support all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration
    • Support construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
    • Work closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Mechanical deliverables.
    • Expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Mechanical Engineer
    • The Individual will expand their knowledge and skill sets to include design and specification of more complex mechanical systems, including HVAC and mechanical utility systems and equipment

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (alternatively, a Bachelor’s in Architectural
    • Engineering with Mechanical Option)
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, preferably in a design firm setting
    • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam completion or pursuit

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proficiency AutoCAD and Revit required
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
    • LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design accredited professional preferred
    • Basic experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping systems designs required
    • Basic experience with the mechanical/plumbing/fire codes, generically stated
    • Basic experience with other applicable industry standards
    • Basic experience with applicable building codes required
    • Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required
    • Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
    • Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers
    • Proficient at basic HVAC, mechanical utility, (plumbing/drainage fixture, fire protection) design calculations under supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer
