    HOW WILL I CONTRIBUTE?

    The MEP Coordinator is responsible for the overall field oversight and coordination of post-design installation for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Process Piping, Medical Gas Piping, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, Building Automation Systems, and Data/IT trades for construction projects. This role will also manage MEP change orders in addition to leading, tracking, and monitoring MEP Meetings. The MEP Coordinator should be well organized and be able to provide direction and mentorship to subcontractors. This role will provide the opportunity to develop trusting and lasting relationships with subcontractors, architects, and owners. The MEP Coordinator will provide support to the Project Manager and Superintendent during field installations as needed.

    • Execution of MEP trade scopes including drawings, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders and the owner contract. Manage trade contracts and contract deliverables from contract award through project closeout.
    • Responsible for scope development and assist with writing subcontract agreements, potential change orders and preconstruction as required.
    • Partner with CRB Design Group from conceptual through Construction Administration. Seek to best fit design to achieve a targeted value design.
    • Partner with CRB’s Design Assist and Delegated Design Trade Partners to integrate their efforts into our Design Team’s work product. This includes preconstruction design review and constructability coordination.
    • Facilitate BIM coordination of MEP-F systems with the ability to lead and manage the coordination process; in addition to resolving coordination issues.
    • Review, comprehend, coordinate and process submittals and shop drawings. Develop, track, and verify list of materials required for the project and project schedule.
    • Compare installation with design plans and details. Develop first-in-place, first received and quality control procedures/practices.
    • Lead and manage pre-task planning and MOP's with subcontractors. This will require an understanding of project logistics and MEP system sequencing.
    • Review and comprehend the project schedule to keep communication consistent with trade contractors and the field team. Maintain dialogue with subcontractors and deliver schedule information back to the project team.
    • Lead and assist the team to define closeout documentation.
    • Manage the MEP punch list and dissemination process and participate in MEP quality control, pre-closure inspections and verification best practices.
    • Draft RFI’s that capture project issues and facilitate timely solutions through collaboration with the design team and project team. Process and provide feedback on submittals accurately as required per the drawings and specifications, and contract documents.
    • Distribute drawings to subcontractors and vendors as required. Produce, maintain, and distribute MEP meeting minutes to various subcontractors and vendors for project communication and documentation.
    • Lead and manage the coordination of start-up and balance activities with trades and vendors.
    • Schedule and coordinate owner training for facility management.
    • Coordinate and define subcontractor start-up and commissioning activities and have ability to start-up and decommission buildings independently.
    • Assist with MEP subcontractor buy-out and manage bid tabulations and bid leveling for cost tracking.
    • Recognize adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives. Serve as a technical resource to operations personnel.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or relevant years’ experience
    • 5+ years of experience in managing construction with an emphasis on MEP scopes of work
    • Experience reviewing as-built drawings, writing MOP's, Cx documentation, TOP documentation, and LOTO procedures.
    • Ability to read and understand single line electrical and HVAC drawings, instrumentation P&ID's. Understanding of project specifications and inter-relationship between drawings.
    • Experience managing MEP subcontractors and equipment vendors.
    • Experience and understanding of MEP systems, inter-dependencies, and CSA trade interactions.
    • Proficient use of MS Project or Primavera software, PM Web, P6, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Revit, Navisworks, iOS apps.
    • Ability to draft comprehensive documentation for proper record keeping.
    • Ability to present information in a clear, concise, logical manner that achieves understanding of the intended message. Able to present to large groups and effectively communicate.
    • Ability to comprehend RFI's.
    • Basic understanding of design/build projects.
