    Summary

    The production assembly supervisor is responsible for supervising workshop and railcar assembly employees in CRRC’s manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and recommends improvements in production safety, methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

    Maintain a clean and safe work environment

    Manage infractions of inappropriate use, wearing, or not wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

    Report accidents, and participate in, and assist with production-related accident investigations

    Coordinate installation & testing of specialized equipment & trucks in the production workshop

    Provide coaching, training, and retraining as necessary, to production employees & apprentices

    Create & maintain a productive, efficient, safe, and positive work environment

    Create & maintain documents in compliance with Car History Book requirements and CRRC Quality standards

    Monitor quality of individual employee and team job performance; regularly issue job performance progress reports to the Production Manager

    Maintain effective lines of communication between Production Department employees, between Production Department employees & management, and between Production Department employees & staff in other departments

    Participate in training and productivity improvement activities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency

    Coordinate with Logistic Department to retrieve and transport railcar equipment and parts to the production floor for assembly

    Supervise installations, repairs & rework and evaluate the quality of installations, repairs & rework before requesting inspections

    Supervise & report the resolution of Quality Department railcar parts/ equipment non-conformity & abnormality citations

    Ability to work at various heights above the ground including on top of railcars

    Properly verify & supervise calibrated tools are being used & documented accordingly

    Supervise & maintain proper inventory levels for Production Department hardware & consumables

    Supervise & ensure compliance with Production Department 3-day schedules

    Manage & report safety and company policy violations

    Track production staff absenteeism and timekeeping

    Perform any other work assigned by the Production Manager

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Requirements

    Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English

    Associates degree and/or minimum 5 yrs. working experience in the manufacturing industry

    Knowledge of manual assembly process and unionized environment management

    Ability to compose and implement new policies

    Ability to read & understand drawings & technical diagrams

    Proficient in MS Office software

    Preferred

    Working experience in manual assembly shops

    2+ years of progressive experience with supervising production activities in an unionized organization in the rolling stock, aviation, or heavy trucking assembly industry
