MEDIA RELATIONS SPECIALIST

DURATION: 6+ month contract

LOCATION: Chicago, IL 60604

OVERVIEW: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Media Relations Specialist for one of our clients in the Chicagoland area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:    

Contributes to planning, creating, evaluating and implementing communications projects and outreach activities with the media to enhance public understanding of the System. Works across media channels to engage audiences. Develops statements and other content for management review and approval for release to the media. Works with management and teams to coordinate planning and to ensure that the company’s public outreach and the release of information to the media is appropriate and effective. The level of work is considered intermediate and staff must be able to work under general supervision. This position has no direct reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans, creates, and initiates communications projects/materials such as news releases and media alerts and social media posts; provides assistance on the development of more complex, high-level communication projects.
• Conducts initial intake process for interview requests and coordinates interviews with Bank staff members.
• Monitors, compiles and analyzes media activities.
• Supports the development of the editorial calendar and other planning processes.
• Oversees day-to-day activities to carry out program objectives; works with manager to establish policies and procedures for communications programs with media.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or work equivalent in journalism, communications, public relations or related communications field
• 3 to 5 years of related experience
• Background in economics, finance and/or banking preferred Knowledge and Skills
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
• Strong analytical skills and ability to think independently
• Strong relationship building skills
• Self-directed and motivated
