  • Responsibilities

    COLSA is seeking high-performing, degree-seeking college interns for the Summer 2026 term (June 1-July 31). This internship provides hands-on experience through meaningful work that contributes to COLSA’s mission and the efforts of the COLSA Software Factory. ****

    During this internship, you will:

    • Work directly with stakeholders and other interns to identify product features and improvements
    • Openly collaborate with a team of interns, designers, and engineers as passionate about software as you are
    • Use cutting edge open source technologies
    • Leverage source control, automated testing, and project tracking software to ensure we deliver high quality products
    • Learn from your teammates so that every member of the team grows professionally
    • Attend all aspects of the Agile Scrum process from Daily standups to Sprint Reviews with the customer
    • Produce design options and artifacts within the defined architecture and develop the code implementation using a modern technical stack
    • Develop and perform unit tests to merge your code into the development source control branch
    • Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, users, and testers to troubleshoot and pinpoint software issues

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Actively enrolled in a related undergraduate degree program in Engineering field or Computer Science no later than the start of the internship (June 1).

    • Junior or Senior standing at the time the internship begins

    • Foundational role-specific knowledge or skills required, such as:

      • Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., C#, Python, Javascript)
      • Basic knowledge of databases (e.g., SQL, NOSQL)
    • Applicant must provide a cover letter containing the following:

      • Explain why you want an internship
      • What role (e.g., Dev, Test, DevOps, other) you see yourself filling on the internship team
      • What you want to gain from the internship
    • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to successfully undergo criminal background check prior to start of employment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Coursework, academic projects, or hands-on experience related to the position (evidence in a portfolio like github, gitlab, or equivalent)
    • Prior related internship, co-op, research, or part-time experience
    • Participation in related student organizations, research, competitions, or leadership activities
    • Exposure to relevant tools, technologies, or methodologies such as:
      • Prior experience working on an Agile team
      • Prior experience with Vue.js
      • Prior experience with Node.js
