Capital Group's Solutions Unit ('the Unit") is the investment team responsible for performing research and making investment recommendations in support of Capital Group's multi-asset portfolio solutions effort. The multi-asset portfolio solutions include but is not limited to: American Funds and Insurance Series based '40 Act fund-of-funds and solutions; Global target date and model platforms; select institutional solutions overseen by Capital Group.

The Solutions Unit, based primarily in in downtown Los Angeles, is comprised of Analysts, a Research Director, Business Managers and Solutions Portfolio Managers. For governance and oversight, the Capital Solutions Group Unit will report to the Solutions Portfolio Coordinating Group (SPCG).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work in a team of Analysts, Portfolio Managers, Research Director, and Business Managers to deliver high impact applied research in support of multi-asset portfolios solutions platforms.
• Research, develop and maintain relevant analytical frameworks and quantitative models
• Contribute to / initiate foundational and/or portfolio construction research that cuts across many portfolios and geographies (US, Europe and Asia)
• Utilize industry publications, industry databases, internal proprietary databases and additional internal resources as needed to compile research
• Bring and apply domain knowledge to the broad research topics
• Identify new areas for research and find creative ways to solve problems as they apply to monitoring, attribution, asset allocation and portfolio construction
• Collaborate with other teams carrying out quantitative research at Capital, on a project-by-project basis
• Participates in development of computing/data platform effort to support and enhance research processes in a collaborative environment

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant investment experience involving building asset allocation and portfolio construction solutions using multiple asset classes.
• STRONG BACKGROUND IN FIXED INCOME ASSET CLASSES AND MARKETS REQUIRED.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with strong understanding of time series analysis, portfolio theory, optimization, monte carlo simulation and statistical models.
• Demonstrated ability to develop recommendations and support assertions with relevant quantitative and qualitative data.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to engage with investment professionals, distill complex concepts into simple language and deliver solutions to diverse group of associates.
• Advanced degree in business, finance, econometrics, mathematics or science
• Proactive and works collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience programming in Python, R, or MATLAB as they apply to time series analysis, simulation modeling, and portfolio optimization techniques with application to portfolio construction and monitoring.
• Strong working knowledge of financial data sources such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc.
