SUMMARY: CSI Energy is seeking an experienced, solar engineer to assess the solar resources and expected energy output of proposed solar projects to help our engineers design the optimal solar field. This individual will play a major role in leading our growing solar energy group, while working on multiple projects with all levels of technical staff. The analysis of solar energy projects involves working across a range of responsibilities, including meteorological data evaluation, application of modeling techniques, formal, finance-grade solar energy resource assessment (SERA) and independent engineering (IE) report writing, evaluation, and recommendation of solar module and inverter technologies, bifacial module analysis and recommendations, plant design reviews, and reviews of commercial agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, and Service Contracts. The role requires high level of engagement internally and with clients, rigor, and attention to detail in technical aspects, client handling, top-notch problem solving and proposal inquiry and preparation, team and project management, multi-tasking, decision-making under uncertain circumstances, and interpersonal relationships. The position includes interfacing with clients and, preparing proposals and collaborating with principals and Director of Business Development in CSI Energy Group. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Timely and efficient completion of high-quality renewable energy (Solar/BESS) analysis work.
    • Carry out operational energy analyses, including:
      • Review, validation, and analysis of meteorological data for solar resource assessments.
      • Design and optimization of solar plants to meet project requirements.
      • Estimation of plant losses and calculation of assessment uncertainties.
      • Management and analysis of project data.
      • Evaluation of project constraints, risks, and other non-quantitative aspects of plant development.
      • Contribute to and/or complete and review to final form, reports and other analyses for clients.
      • Perform due diligence analyses of proposed solar power facilities, including design, technology, performance, and commercial agreements.
      • Develop company quality standards related to solar energy.
      • Develop analysis tools and procedures related to solar energy.
      • Understand and ensure company quality standards are met.
      • Support business development activities, including meeting with customers to explain technical details clearly and concisely.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent of solar and energy assessment/analysis required.
    • High competency with solar meteorological data, experience with solar energy simulation modeling, independent engineering, solar technology and nuances of design, and analysis of operational project data and performance.
    • Currently living in Orange or LA County, CA is highly preferred.
    • Experience in utility-scale solar/PV projects, highly preferred.
    • The ability to prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects, issues, and activities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and implementation and facilitation skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Travel up to 20%
    • Ability to lift to 10 lbs.
    • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
