    Job Description

    ABOUT THE JOB

    We are seeking a sharp individual with CPA/High-level accounting experience or a Business/Fiscal Director at a large charter school or school district to join our team as a School Business Manager for the Los Angeles Area. This highly organized, detail-oriented, self-starter with a passion for Charter School education and account management will seize this opportunity to contribute to a highly professional Charter School management team. The right person will apply his or her professional expertise and customer relations skills in traditional and unique ways within the burgeoning Charter School movement. The successful candidate will work with specific client schools providing advice and direct work product on strategic financial decisions, accounting, budget development, cash flow planning, and charter business compliance.     WHAT THE SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER WILL DO:

    Foster communication, quality control, and excellent customer service in their territory.

    Manage defined clients ensuring they are properly serviced. From accounting compliance, back- office, and operational compliance, the School Business Manager will marshal the necessary resources to ensure 100% satisfaction throughout the territory.

    Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and business files for budgeting and planning purposes. Typical tasks include creating monthly annualized budgets, preparing and analyzing monthly cash flows, analyzing ongoing financial budget to actual performance of client schools, and preparing authorizer mandated external financial reports.

    Analyze, consult, and problem solve in collaboration with clients on matters related to business, finance, and operations.

    Directly interface with clients for inquiries and information gathering.

    Assist internal CSMC personnel in providing information requested by year-end auditors.

    Understand and be able to discuss the financial condition of all clients. This is especially critical in the regular presentation of financials and analysis to the client’s executive staff and governing boards.

    Assist in other business services related activities such as insurance renewals, compliance reporting, etc.

     

    WHAT OUR SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER NEEDS

    CPA, high level accounting experience or Business/Fiscal Director level experience at a large charter school or school district

    Excellent Finance and Accounting Skills

    Strong Communication and customer relationship skills

    Excellent analytical and written communicative skills

    Knowledge of GAAP, business principles and standard operating practices, and a strong accounting, budgeting, and finance background.

    Knowledge of Regional K-12 public education system including accounting and policies

    Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

    Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to self-start, prioritize and multi-task.

    Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

    Ability to travel regularly within region

    Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with stakeholders.

    Interest and commitment to education reform, particularly regarding the Charter School movement.

    The individual should be a self-starter who possess a flexible schedule with strong time management skills. This position is a remote position which will require the individual to meet with clients and attend their respective Board of Directors Meetings at the time that is convenient to the client. Given the nature of the business, the individual will need to work, plan, and schedule around meeting the needs of multiple clients and their respective concurrent deadlines.
