The receptionist at our small animal hospital is the first point of contact for clients and their pets, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate attitude toward animals and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
Greet clients and their pets warmly, creating a welcoming and professional environment
Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage the clinic’s appointment calendar
Register new clients and update patient records accurately in the hospital management system
Handle client communications, including appointment reminders, follow-ups, and general inquiries
Process payments, issue receipts, and maintain accurate financial records
Communicate with veterinary staff to coordinate patient care and relay important information
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area
Assist with medication script processing and client instructions as directed by veterinary staff1
Support clinic operations, including managing inventory and ordering office supplies as needed
Uphold client confidentiality and adhere to all clinic policies and procedures
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in veterinary administration or customer service is a plus
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or customer service role preferred
Strong organizational, multitasking, and computer skills
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor with both clients and animals
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
