TexanCare Family Medicine Clinic is an evidence-based healthcare clinic that specializes in serving that San Marcos area and surrounding communities. TexanCare provides preventative care, geriatrics, women’s health, wound care, and all-around family medicine.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The ideal medical assistant will have prior related experience, have a record of excellent punctuality and attendance. If you enjoy helping others, getting to know patients, and being part of a team, this is the place for you! 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• The position will be primarily back office.
• Escorts patients to examining rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit.
• Checks patients’ vitals, muscle, visual acuity, extraocular movements, and measures blood pressure when indicated.
• Prepare medication refills for the provider
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications
• Assist with patient call backs
• Run Rapid Strep, COVID, and Flu tests
• Obtain urine and blood specimens from patients; package and submit to labs

EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

All skills below are required and must be demonstrated before hiring:

• Manual vital signs
• EKG set up
• Phlebotomy
• Injections
• Nebulizer treatment
• Procedure setup
• Equipment sterilization
• Computer knowledge with Athena EMR
• Must have AthenaHealth experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 1-2 years’ experience, preferred
