  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Responsible for protecting Tribal Assets and providing a safe and secure environment for the guests, team members, and residents of the reservation. Officers patrol the grounds of the Casino, Tribal properties, and the reservation. Officers may patrol the grounds in a radio equipped patrol car, on bicycle or on foot. Warns violators of rule infractions, apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Conducts preliminary investigations, prepares written reports, networks with local public safety agencies, handles medical calls, and escorts money transfers.

    CORE SCOPE OF POSITION

    • Provides a safe and secure environment for guests and team members, and resident of the reservation by patrolling buildings, parking lots, and grounds of Casino and Tribal properties, including the reservation.
    • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Makes arrests as necessary. All apprehensions are turned over to law enforcement and written reports are prepared.
    • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
    • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain whether it has been tampered with.
    • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
    • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
    • Controls entrance and egress to secured and restricted areas to authorize personnel.
    • Checks identification of patrons to ensure that they are of proper age in accordance with applicable policies or laws/regulations to game or purchase alcohol.
    • Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic as required.
    • Prepares reports on incidents, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, criminal activities, suspicious circumstances, medical incidents, and machine or equipment malfunctions. Assists with conducting primary investigations at crime scenes and traffic accidents. Assists law enforcement as requested.
    • Reports and documents violations of regulatory functions such as Tribal Gaming Ordinance, GCR, Tribal Resolutions, Tribal Ordinances, and/or instructions, NIGC, MIC's, Policies and Procedures, and criminal violations as defined in the California Penal Code.
    • Escorts, protects, and secures monies during all transfers on and off Casino grounds as needed.
    • Responds to emergency alarms associated with fire, presence of unauthorized persons, and/or critical incidences. Calls the Communication Center, notifies proper authorities, secures and controls all tribal assets, and permits authorized persons to enter property.
    • Responds and resolves guest inquiries in a timely manner.
    • Performs First Aid, CPR, and AED as needed, if trained.
    • Performs all other compatible duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    ** KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**

    • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write reports that can be understood by the CEO, COO, General Manager, Tribal Council, legal staff, court officers, and law enforcement.
    • Must have a high degree of common sense.
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
    • Type 20 wpm.
    • Basic mathematical skills, such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to think quickly in an emergency situation.
    • Ability to resolve problems as they arise and handle situations without supervision.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of organization.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Required Experience

    ** EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION**

    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
    • Possess a valid Guard Card, Exposed Firearms Permit, Baton Permit, Chemical Agent Permit. (Will require proof of application and payment of fees if Guard Card and Exposed Firearms Permit not in immediate possession.)
    • Possess certification in First Aid, CPR, or AED (or obtains with 90 days of being hired).
    • Must pass the Security Department’s assessment test.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 1 to 2 years of related experience required.
    • Military service, security, and/or law enforcement experience preferred.
