    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible for executing the design of truck plow systems and components from concept to production while ensuring product goals and objectives are satisfied.  Actively participate in new product development as well as existing product improvement activities.  Ensures that product performance, cost, quality, safety, and project schedule meet the established requirements.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • New product design and project management of various complexities to achieve goals for function, performance, safety, cost, timing, and quality.
    • Specify, set-up, and perform design validation while employing DVP&R’s (Design Verification Plan & Report) and other required project documentation throughout the design process.
    • Responsible for the analysis of engineering designs using calculations, testing, computer simulation or other techniques, as necessary.
    • Perform product release including creating and administering ECM’s.
    • Perform Cost Estimates.
    • Assist in the development of design and test standards.
    • Support manufacturing improvements and cost reduction efforts.
    • Identify and implement product improvements.
    • Addresses and resolves field and warranty issues.
    • Support the Technical Service Department through direct customer contact.
    • Develop project schedules for new product development and continuous improvement projects.
    • Support new product development builds.
    • Utilize project management techniques throughout development.
    • Drives issue resolution amongst the engineering teams to keep project on schedule
    • Works with engineering management in developing product proposals to satisfy specific market requirements.
    • Helps to establish overall product specifications and features.

     

    JOB DIMENSIONS:

    • Skillfully collaborates with cross functional teams, promotes big picture thinking.
    • Communicates with highly competent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Collaborates with Operations and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure successful production launches of new products and complex product changes.
    • Travels to test-sites, distributors, customers, vendors, manufacturing facilities, global partners and others as required.
    • Directs work of assigned support personnel.
    • Design decisions significantly affect sales, warranty, customer satisfaction; component failures may result in liability lawsuits.

     

    SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
    • Minimum of 1-3+ years’ relevant professional experience.
    • Must be proficient using solid modeling software (Creo Parametric Preferred), Finite Element Analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint.
    • Knowledgeable in Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, and various manufacturing processes such as welding, etc.
    • Experience with electric circuits and automotive electrical and/or body control systems is highly preferred.
    • Basic understanding of hydraulic systems is preferred.
    • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical and automotive skills preferred.
    • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Must be able to specify and use test equipment including sensors and data acquisition equipment.
    • Must be able to create and analyze component, system level or complete product design with individual initiative. 
    • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must be able to direct the work of drafters and designers. 
    • Must possess exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
