Herr Foods Inc. is a privately owned salty snack food manufacturer and distributor based in Nottingham, PA and we think our 1500+ employees are pretty spectacular! This position involves driving a forklift, loading trailers, picking orders to palletize, stacking boxes, wrapping pallets and working with direct ship programs by performing the following duties.
This position is full time BENEFIT ELIGIBLE. HOURS: Friday - Sunday 3:30pm - 3:30am. Additional hours as needed due to business demands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
RECEIVING/PUT-AWAY: Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
QUALITY: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
ORDER PICKING: Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
LOADING: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
EQUIPMENT: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power or manual equipment. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, putaway, and load functions, as required. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
INVENTORY: Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
SAFETY, SANITATION, SECURITY: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA, SQF and MSDS Standards. Must attend all safety and SQF (Safe Quality Food) meetings and/or training sessions and be committed to working to these standards.
MAINTENANCE: Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior warehouse experience is preferred. Prior Herr's warehouse experience is a plus.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must possess a current tow motor license.
A knowledge of product codes and warehouse procedures is preferred.
Must possess organizational and leadership abilities in order to make an informed decision as situations change.
Must pass a job-related math assessment with a score of 70% or better.
Must possess a stable work history with good references.
Candidates must pass a pre-placement screen test demonstrating the ability to perform the physical requirements of this position.
