    SUMMARY

     

    The technical writer prepares, reviews, revises, and maintains of all documents including detailed technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policies, policy instructions to support complex IT environments and applications, systems engineering, system operations and infrastructure in support of the branch.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Work closely with the System Engineering and Service Desk Team in defining the content of System Manuals, User Guides, and other technical documents. 
    • Gather and analyze technical data pertaining to system design and development and create, update, and maintain technical documentation as requirements and configurations change. 
    • Conduct and accurately document research to support written content and verify the technical accuracy of any claims that are made, working with technical staff as appropriate.
    • Provide input to the visual communication of complex concepts and the layouts of documents and other materials.
    • Develop SOPs and policies to include procedure steps, assignment of responsibility, expected durations, and task detail.
    • Work with the technical support staff to capture and record all required detailed information needed to support the continuity plans.

     

     

     

     

    Required Skills

    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • In-depth expert experience with the MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.) and In-depth experience researching, editing, and preparing documentation and familiarity with CMMI best practices.
    • Excellent writing skills required, as is the ability to analyze, synthesize, and condense text that includes technical terminology.
    • An associate degree in liberal arts or technical field and 4 years of experience desired, the incumbent will be authoring, editing and maintaining complex documents both technical and non-technical documents and reports.
    • Must have a solid technical background and extensive experience working closely with technical staff system Engineers, software developers, test engineers, etc.
    • SOPs for data center operations to address, backup and disaster recovery
    • Step-by-step procedures that guide the user through typical use cases
    • Software application and update user guide
    • SOPs for each functional areas for Program Manager, Subject Matter Expert, System Engineer, and Help Desk.
    • Update and maintain existing SOPs.
    • Standardized documentation templates focused on business continuity plans and other relevant documents or artifacts
