  • Responsibilities

    Teach three different classes in digital electronics. These classes cover a wide range of topics starting with microprocessor/microcontroller programming and applications. All the classes use both classroom theory and hands-on work. The instructor would teach two of the three classes each during the Fall and Spring semesters. The successful applicant needs a strong knowledge of digital number theory, Boolean algebra, logic gates, registers and flip-flops, ALUs, basic computer architecture and microprocessor/microcontroller uses and basic programming. The successful applicant should be able to use basic electronic test equipment, breadboards and chips and demonstrate appropriate safety measures.

    Required Skills

    • Ability to clearly explain digital concepts such as the binary and hexadecimal number systems, basic Boolean algebra, basic digital devices such as logic gates, registers and flip-flops, the Von Neumann computer architecture, and the basics of microprocessors and microcontrollers
    • Ability to teach the basics of programming a microprocessor to perform simple activities

    Required Experience

    • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree
    • 5+ years of experience in a related field
    • Industry experience in digital electronics, such as chip manufacturing, digital communication systems, computer/digital control systems, medical electronics or robotics
    • Experience in breadboarding systems or circuit board layout are highly desired
