    Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a licensed professional Civil Engineer to join our Storm Water Drainage team in Colorado Springs, CO. Qualified candidates must have 8 to 20 years of experience in water resources including storm water drainage.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

     

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    • Manage design, permitting, and construction services for the assigned project efficiently and responsibly.
    • Will be required to maintain positive client relationships on a regular basis.
    • Participate in adopting and improving design standards to improve or enhance our practice.
    • Sensitive to clients’ needs and prioritizing information that client needs. 
    • Estimate additional work fee/scope and alert management of issues.

     

    DESIGN

    • Complete site designs, perform hydrology calculations, design storm water management, grading & drainage plans.
    • Prepare detailed utility plans for water and sewer infrastructure development.
    • Understand inclusion and exclusion of scope of services for different project types.
    • Enforce methods on projects you are managing.
    • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic storm water management design and adequate outfall analysis.

     

    QUALITY CONTROL

    • Ensure that quality control procedures are maintained.

     

    CLIENT RELATIONS

    • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies and meet their expectations.
    • Attend progress meetings for projects.

     

    STAFF MANAGEMENT

    • Direct drafters and assist engineers working on your projects.
    • Motivate staff working on your projects.
    • Maintain a good rapport with all levels of staff members. 
    • Demonstrate leadership abilities with project team. 
    • Manage the production staff working on your projects to communicate effectively to achieve project goals and meeting deadlines.
    • Manage junior staff to see that designs and plans are compiled properly, on-time and in a quality fashion.
    • Manage assigned work load and schedule effectively with given resources. 
    • Communicate with team leader in advance when the schedule or deadlines change.
    • Actively participate and adhere to our safety program and ensure that all team members are as well.

    Required Skills

    • Effective communication skills - both verbal and written.
    • Broad understanding of engineering principles required
    • Skilled in project management, managing technical professionals, and demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple concurrent projects.

     

    Required Experience

    • Candidate must have a BS or a MS in Civil Engineering
    • 8 to 20 years of experience in water resources including storm water drainage
    • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain within 6 mos.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, experience with Microstation Inroads is desirable
    • Experience and proficiency in performing drainage analysis, drainage planning, and drainage facility design
    • Experience with project management
    • Self-starter with strong problem solving skills
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills
    • Excellent work ethic and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles

     

    ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $100,300 - $176,200
