    This position is with Passage Home, located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Passage Home's mission is to break the cycle of poverty and create generational self-sufficiency for the individuals and families of Wake County by helping them achieve housing and income security.

    THIS POSITION WILL HAVE A START DATE BETWEEN MAY 18TH AND 22ND, WITH THE DATE BEING NO LATER THAN JUNE 1ST 2020. THE SERVICE TERM IS FOR 6 MONTHS FROM FIRST DAY OF SERVICE.

All AmeriCorps Members must submit to having a National Sex Offender, State of Residence (if state is different than NC), State of NC, and Federal FBI Background check conducted.     For this 6 month PART TIME (20 hours a week) 450 service hour term of service as an AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team member. The AmeriCorps program will offer a living stipend of $4,092 for 6 months (paid twice a month, on the 15th and last business day). Participants who complete the program will receive an Segal Education Award of $ 1,638.89 from the National Service Trust. Both the living stipend and Education Award is taxable income per federal regulation. (The living stipend may increase based on program participation)

    Due to this unprecedented pandemic, we are experiencing an overwhelming number of calls and applications for emergency financial assistance from Wake County residents in urgent need. We are working around the clock to process applications, 

    This position will assist program staff with providing emergency financial assistance and other resources to qualifying people who are unable to pay their basic living expenses over the next few months.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    To provide and assist withprogram implementation of all client/family services during this time oftransition.  Assist program managers and staff with obtaining reports,tracking data, collecting and documenting eligibility and revisions of any program guidelines in order to meet overall program goals. 

    • Assist with conducting interview/assessments of all pre-screened families/individuals to determine appropriateness for services.
    • Review program documents with families; thoroughly explain program expectations and all related rules and requirements; ensure the family’s understanding and willingness to comply. 
    • Evaluate family strengths and needs, determine immediate needs, employability, and identify key barriers.
    • Provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to Wake County residents and the general public
    • Assist family to develop a transitional care plan, addressing housing sustainability and employment support as necessary.   
    • Engage family in ongoing assessment process to determine if continued financial assistance is still needed. 
    • Monitor family progress through follow up phone calls.
    • Maintain case documentation, including progress notes, database entries, and all other relevant information to assist clients and to comply with program requirements.
    • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training, supervisory sessions and accept responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested. 
    • Adhere to agency policy,procedures, safety standards and professional code of ethics.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office tools including word, excel and power point,  
    • Demonstrated capacity to communicate professionally verbally and in writing  
    • Ability to accurately document client records and files both on paper and in computer aided record keeping software.  
    • Although a college degree not required, ability to demonstrate independent thinking, ability to work independently from a virtual setting.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Communicate with families and or individuals on a daily basis
    • Ability to document information in case files or data base
    • Ability to follow direction
    • Ability to quickly learn new data base for client information
    • Ability to work from home environment (temporarily until business resumes to normal working location). Work from the main office will be scheduled by department.
