Overview
The CVOR Technologist III is a senior-level role supporting a high-acuity cardiovascular operating environment within a large regional medical center. This technologist functions as a clinical expert in complex cardiovascular, hybrid, and endovascular procedures and provides mentorship to junior staff. This position is integral to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care for adult and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced scrub support for complex cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and hybrid OR procedures.
Function as lead technologist in specialty areas such as robotics, total joints, neuro/spine, burn, and vascular surgery.
Anticipate surgeon and team needs; ensure proper instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
Maintain sterile technique and adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
Assist in the second scrub role (retraction, suctioning, sponging, camera manipulation).
Demonstrate advanced proficiency with wire techniques and cardiovascular instrumentation.
Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to maintain efficient OR workflow.
Mentor junior technologists and contribute to departmental development.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 1 year of CVOR/open-heart experience (7+ years strongly preferred).
Lead technologist competency in robotics, total joints, neuro/spine, burn, and vascular surgery.
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (CORT).
Certification: CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT).
BLS required within 30 days of hire.
Experience in a similarly sized acute-care facility with comparable service lines.
Preferred:
Extensive hybrid OR or endovascular procedure experience.
Strong organizational skills and proficiency with wire techniques.
Ability to serve as a departmental resource and mentor.
