    As part of our commitment to "Do More. Do Better.," we are beginning our search for our Director of Inclusion.

    Carmichael Lynch’s Director of Inclusion will be a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, responsible for helping us to foster an environment where everyone is welcomed, valued and included. The Director of Inclusion will help build, strengthen and further define the diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for Carmichael Lynch and help develop a plan to increase and retain Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) hires. This role will oversee the design, development and implementation of diversity and inclusion programs and practices, and will act as a collaborative partner and trusted advisor to senior leadership and HR.

    The Director of Inclusion will help identify and focus on the right strategic external partners or actions that will impact the goal of real, systemic change. This role will also act as a multicultural anthropologist to inform and inspire the agency and our client work as well as oversee the process for reviewing our content/creative work for through a consistent lens of anti-racism.

    This role will ideally be based in Minneapolis, but we are open to it being located anywhere in the US.

    AREAS OF FOCUS

    • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to set the direction on diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and initiatives, providing recommendations to support DEI efforts around hiring, promotion, development, retention, and engagement.

    • Identify opportunities, help determine and address gaps, and implement procedures that will deliver desired outcomes, as evidenced by a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.

    • Consult with senior leaders on developing department-specific DEI strategies and plans.

    • In partnership with Managing Partners, hold senior leaders accountable for the support, implementation and eventual ownership of DEI in their respective departments.

    • Partner with HR and senior leaders to effectively embed DEI practices into every aspect of the employee experience (hiring, onboarding, development, leadership competencies and transitions)

    • Partner with Director of Recruiting to ensure that our hiring managers and interviewers are best equipped to find BIPOC talent and set them up for success in the hiring process.

    • Partner with our parent organization’s (Interpublic Group of Companies) DEI team, HR, and senior leaders to develop, maintain, and monitor DEI metrics, and use research-based insights to diagnose and assess the impact of specific strategies and initiatives, both at an agency and departmental level.

    • Partner with cross-functional teams to create programs and policies to ensure equitable partnerships with suppliers and vendors.

    • Provide subject matter expertise on internal and external DEI best practices.

    • Inform DEI training and development of all employees (entry-level through management) in partnership with HR and senior leaders.

    • Help develop an employee engagement and communication strategy (which may include partnership with internal employee resource groups: MOSAIC, CLOUT, BLAZE, etc., internal communications, events, etc.) that helps build a culture of true inclusivity.

    • Develop and optimize process for reviewing the content/work we create for people, communities and clients of Color and refine the process for counseling clients on appropriate representation.

    • Partner with internal teams to provide DEI expertise on communication strategies and help to create a cohesive external narrative for Carmichael Lynch.

    • Participate/attend various recruiting events aimed at reaching BIPOC professionals (AdColor, HAATBP, AdFed Mosaic, IPG DEI events, etc.)

    • This role will report to our CEO.

    • 10+ years in strategy development, learning and development, or diversity, equity & inclusion with a record of furthering DEI strategies and creating best practices – ideally in a creative environment.
    • Open to a broad range of industry experience with demonstrated leadership and business acumen skills.
    • Creative thinker with experience promoting, developing and facilitating successful DEI strategies and/or programs for an organization.
    • Track record of increasing BIPOC resumes for consideration and interviews.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of the agency.
    • Highly effective strategic thinker with the ability to clearly and clearly articulate complex ideas, unique concepts, and proposals to engage all levels of the agency.
    • Together with the Leadership Team helps create an engaged, mutually supportive work culture where people can do their best and bring their authentic selves to work.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships, trust, and rapport, as well as inspire, impact, influence and collaborate at all levels of the agency.
    • Immersed in best practices in leveling the playing field for BIPOC, women and LGBTQIA and cultural sensitivities.
