    Caban's mission brings renewable energy to critical telecom infrastructures around the world. We are looking for a dynamic and hands on Mfg./NPI engineer to help us scale and commercialize our renewable battery and power distribution systems. The MFG/NPI engineer is responsible for driving early stage DFx feedback, defining mfg. processes, production automation design/validations, production tooling design/validation and NPI process, both internally and externally.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering field.
    • 5-7 years of practical experience and technical depth with electro-mechanical products, i.e., pcb's, pcba's, cables/harnessing, sheet metal/stamping, injection molded plastic parts, tooling validation and high-volume automated production equipment, bonus points for further experience in lithium-ion cells.
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a fast-paced startup environment, comfortable with wearing multiple hats at once, and a keen understanding of urgency, responsibility and timing.
    • Demonstrated success leading the resolution of challenging production issues.
    • Thorough understanding of statistical quality methods and inspection techniques.
    • Experience with Value stream mapping, Kaizen, poka-yoke, Lean six sigma techniques and continuous improvement process's, greenbelt or blackbelt certificate a plus.
    • Able to meet deadlines on time under minimal supervision
    • Global travel experience with Asia, NA, with Latin America a plus.
    • Proficient with computer applications such as MS office suite, Google tools, Slack, etc.
    • Ability for global travel as needed (post Covid restrictions).
    • You love to create products from the leanest process possible.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • As a member of a matrixed development team, you will represent the department as a core team member to provide technical expertise for appropriate production process, material definition, production capacity and overall design for manufacturability/cost.
    • Determine new product manufacturing resources (labor, NRE, capital equipment, etc.) requirements, development plans, capacity plans and launch/ramp schedules, along with all launch documentation.
    • Manage tooling and part approval process, along with appropriate fixturing and or assembly/automation equipment.
    • Ensure all required specifications/documentation, materials, equipment; procedures are in place for all phase changes and production launches.
    • Work with the quality team to ensure all quality and inspection activities are fully documented and defined before product launch.
    • Lead design transfers of finished products, sub-assemblies, cables and components.
    • Responsible for providing technical leadership and support to the installation, start-up, validation and transfer of new and replicated automated production equipment relative to machine controls, sensors, machine vision, etc.
    • Provide technical expertise and oversee the resolution and repair of issues related to all automated manufacturing and test equipment.
    • Lead efforts to conduct PFMEA's on manufacturing processes to identify risks.
    • Collaboratively work with outsourced manufacturing partners and suppliers to assess and develop the optimum manufacturing processes, equipment and procedures.
    • Drive internal expertise in electro-mechanical materials, fabrications processes and automated equipment utilization.
    • Support quality metrics and provide leadership in problem resolution and failure analysis (regarding build configurations, yields, line stops, bone pile, scrap rates, component failures, etc.) with internal and external manufacturing partners and component suppliers.
    • Support ECO generation/implementation and liaison with all internal and external production.
    • Implement supplier qualification audits as needed.
    • Support engineering in developing and implementing packaging design and specifications

    PHYSICAL CHALLENGES

    • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
    • Ability to operate standard warehouse equipment
    • Ability to climb stairs
