Job Summary
The Cable Runner is responsible for the physical installation and routing of low-voltage and telecommunications cabling. This entry-level role focuses on pulling, routing, and organizing network wires in diverse environments, ensuring compliance with local codes and safety regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Pull and route structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Coaxial, and Fiber Optic) through walls, ceilings, and conduit.
- Install j-hooks, cable trays, and raceways to support cable networks.
- Transport tools and materials, set up ladders, and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
- Label and bundle wires neatly according to engineering blueprints and color codes.
- Assist senior technicians with cable terminations, testing, and equipment mounting.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 0–1 years of construction, electrical, or telecommunications experience (willing to train the right candidate).
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces like crawlspaces or attics.
- Tools: Familiarity with basic hand tools (wire cutters, screwdrivers, drills).
- Requirements: reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of color codes or low-voltage safety standards.
- Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour Construction Card is a strong plus.
