    Under the direction of the Production Manager/Supervisor, the Team Lead will be responsible for assisting the Production Supervisors in executing the daily production by utilizing the plant’s SOPs as the basis for all development, training, and verification of processes.  This position will communicate, direct, assign, and inspect work completed by the Production team. In addition, the Team Lead will be responsible for reporting all production and maintenance issues to the Production Supervisor/Manager.

    TEAM LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Leads by example (strong work ethic) and fosters an environment of trust and respect.
    • Develop and lead with a sense of urgency.
    • Interacts in an effective and positive manner.
    • Provides hands-on support, assigns daily tasks, monitors output, and communicates changes to the team.
    • Informs supervisor of production and labor requirements.
    • Assign employee breaks and lunches and ensures appropriate coverage.
    • Identifies employee training needs and follows through to accomplish the desired results.
    • Ensures employees have access to and use proper protective equipment and have a safe work environment.
    • Enforces company policies, practices, and safety programs; advises supervisor of policy infractions.
    • Provides timely feedback to employees on a daily basis and informs supervisor of team/individual performance.
    • Brings suggestions for facility, equipment, and process improvements to the attention of the supervisor.
    • Follows-up on jobs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves equipment/procedural issues and informs supervisor of faulty equipment.
    • Ensures all employees have the proper tools and equipment to successfully carry out assignment.
    • Ensures team communicates in a clear and effective manner during turnover and throughout the day for smooth workflow.
    • Keeps work area organized and clean to prevent safety hazards.

     

    DUTIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
    • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
    • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
    • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
    • Complete assigned work within scheduled time
    • Load required material as needed for production
    • Clean machines and work area at the end of shift as applicable
    • Ensure that machines are working properly and safely
    • Notify Supervisor about equipment and production problems
    • Follow all GMPs and safety company policies and procedures
    • Attend all required training programs sponsored by the company such monthly safety meeting, GMP, Chemical handling, etc.
    • Excellent attendance required, dependable, trustworthy, strong work ethic, respect for others.
    • Ability to demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn new task quickly
    • Assist team members in their job duties when needed

     POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

     EDUCATION

     AA Degree Preferred; High School Diploma Required or GED Equivalency

    EXPERIENCE

    • 2 plus years of experience in Meat or Manufacturing, Food Processing, Food service, Assembly Line, or Sanitation environment.
    • Regulatory Certifications
    • Forklift Certification

    ABILITIES

     

    • Ability to lead to and exhibit ownership and accountability on production floor
    • Willing and able to work flexible shifts and hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays
    • Ability to demonstrate and practice safety work habits
    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
    • Ability to exhibit sense of ownership and accountability

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

     

    • Physical, able to stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds if necessary.
    • Ability to stand on production line for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to work in wet and loud environment.
