  • Responsibilities

    MAIN ATTRIBUTIONS 

    1. Verify and check balances, financial information in different accounting standards to ensure the integrity and availability of information for decision making in compliance with the regulations of control agencies and requirements of partners. 
    2. Control changes to the application of accounting principles, standards and administrative procedures in information systems to ensure compliance with the guidelines on accounting management aligned to local and corporate policies. 
    3. Provide guidance and support to other areas of the company / companies related to the accounting treatment relating to contribute to the improvement or adjustment of operations and / or standards, existing or new ones. 
    4. Develop methodologies for analysis of accounts to meeting the criteria of reasonableness and relevance. 
    5. Develop activities related to changes in information systems to ensure a methodology aligned to local and corporate policies. 
    6. Develop internal controls and procedures of the accounting processes to ensure the registration documentation of these processes. 
    7. Organize and control the process of generating accounting information from business units and related companies to ensure the integrity, broadcast and presentation of balance sheets and additional information in the various accounting standards required. 
    8. Check the reasonableness analysis of global accounting information. 
    9. Develop and monitor the response to the requirements of internal audits, external, and the partners providing the information and explanations required.

     

    GENERAL SUMMARY 

    Responsible for completion, review, and maintenance of general ledgers, sub ledgers, accounting, consolidation, financial reporting and analysis for Petrobras America Inc. (“PAI” and “company”) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) and Petrobras/PAI Accounting Policy and Procedures by performing the following duties: 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Monitor the performance of FI/CO modules in SAP system in relation to PAI accounting and operational needs and requirements. Propose and implement changes and/or improvements as needed.

    Coordinate and control company-wide monthly accounting close process to meet the reporting deadlines established by the Petrobras Headquarters.

    Compile, analyze, and/or review company’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supplemental schedules and footnotes in accordance with Petrobras Headquarters’ instructions and IFRS.

    Perform accounting functions related to PAI Procurement International operations including, but not limited to: 

    • Prepare general ledger entries, including month-end adjusting or accrual entries,

    • Record FI invoices and credit memos as required,

    • Prepare and maintain accounting schedules and financial reports,

    • Perform accounting reconciliation and analysis,

    • Communicate and coordinate with operational management to ensure proper accounting treatment and procedures are applied to all business activity.

    • Monitor, perform, and/or review various accounting/finance functions and financial reports related to PAI Trading and E&P operations and PAI fixed assets to ensure accuracy and compliance with Petrobras/PAI Accounting Policy and Procedures and IFRS.

    • Coordinate and control the process to timely and accurately complete internal and external financial, regulatory, or joint venture audit, including quarterly, interim and year-end reviews and/or audits as well as Sarbanes-Oxley Act (“SOX”) reporting.

    • Organize and control the process of updating and maintaining proper documentation for Petrobras/PAI Accounting Policy and provide or assist in providing guidance on various accounting technical calculations, including impairment analysis and research, evaluate and document various accounting and disclosure issues to ensure the integrity and proper presentation of company financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Petrobras/PAI Accounting Policy.

    • Perform accounting research and monitor new accounting pronouncements and newly applicable pronouncements based on changing company activities. Develop and implement new accounting procedures and improvements to existing accounting and finance internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS, Petrobras/PAI Accounting Policy, and SOX requirements.

    • Respond to questions regarding company’s ledgers, financial statements and other financial schedules/reports.

    • Participate in resolution of upstream joint venture audit queries/exceptions according to the respective Joint Operating Agreement and COPAS guidelines.

    • Develop and maintain desk procedures for areas of responsibility to ensure completeness and relevance.

    • Participate in special projects and/or support other accounting and finance functions as assigned.

    • Must abide by all QHSE policies and guidelines.

    Experience in SAP with familiarity with various SAP modules.

    Knowledge of COPAS pronouncements and guidelines preferred.

    Accounting knowledge in oil and gas industry preferred.

    Possess basic math skills, strong problem solving and analytical skills, and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

    Ability to focus on details and multi-task with minimal supervision.

    Experience in SAP with familiarity with various SAP modules.Knowledge of COPAS pronouncements and guidelines preferred.Accounting knowledge in oil and gas industry preferred.Possess basic math skills, strong problem solving and analytical skills, and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). 

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative, team oriented environment. 

    Minimum 5 years of related accounting experience. 

    EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES 

    Higher Education required. 

    A Bachelor’s degree (B.B.A. or B. S.) in Public Accounting, Business Administration or Economics. 

    CPA desirable.
