    PHEAA has an exciting internship opportunity available within the Enterprise Security Office for Summer 2021. Learn about how PHEAA works as a business and gain experience in the Information Technology field!

     

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (flexible, 20-40 hours)

    SALARY: $11.50/ Hourly

      

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    As an intern, you'll work under the general supervision of a manager.  Opportunities to learn include, but are not limited to:

    • Unique opportunity to partner with and be mentored by a diverse and talented team of IT professionals within the fields of cybersecurity, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
    • This opportunity will provide direct exposure to several different areas of IT Security and Governance, including Risk, Policy and Controls Analysis; Network Security; Identity and Access Management; Security Architecture; Infrastructure and Operations; Application Development; and Quality Assurance.
    • Mapping information security controls across applicable standards.
    • Researching evidence in response to audit inquiries and assist in preparing action plans.
    • Prepare procedures and process flows.

    Required Skills

    • Successful candidates should have knowledge/education in the cybersecurity, risk management, and IT assessment areas.
    • This position will support a federal government contract. Applicants must be able to obtain Public Trust security clearance as required of federal government contractors to include a background check conducted by the U.S. Government to determine eligibility and suitability for federal contract employment for public trust or sensitive positions. For this level of clearance, the federal government requires applicants to possess U.S. citizenship. IN LIGHT OF THIS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REQUIREMENT, PHEAA WILL BE UNABLE TO HIRE APPLICANTS WITHOUT UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP FOR SUCH POSITIONS.

     

    Preferred Experience/Knowledge:

    • Basic foundation of information security knowledge, protocols and frameworks in coordination with information technology practices and processes.
    • Experience in mapping information security controls across applicable standards.
    • General understanding of IT auditing and/or risk management and assessment practices, including ability to research evidence in response to audit inquiries and assist in preparing action plans.
    • Ability to understand IT practices.
    • Knowledge of Confluence and Visio.

    Required Experience

    • Currently enrolled in an institution of higher education with minimum of 2-3 Years of undergraduate coursework in Security and Risk Analysis, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field with desire to pursue a career in related IT fields.
