POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Software Development manager, and in conjunction with the Director of Operations and other project managers, the Software Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining custom applications used to automate tax and accounting business processes within the firm and for our clients.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain custom solutions encompassing front end applications, data manipulation, reporting, and process integration.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable/ reliable code using VBA, C#, SSRS, and SQL Server
- Technical and user documentation, requirements gathering, after-hours support, user training
- Maintain & support custom applications to ensure functionality and optimization. Improve & optimize performance of existing applications, recommend improvements
- MS Office development including VBA Form interfaces, DB Connectivity and Excel sheet manipulation. ETL (extract, transform, load) utility creation
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of apps. Identify bottlenecks and bugs, devise solutions to these problems
- Regularly communicate with management and infrastructure teams. Participate in business analysis process with respect to new projects, enhancements, other change requests
- Other tasks & duties as needed and assigned
Required Skills
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION (GENERAL & TECHNICAL):
- BS degree in computer science, information science, or software engineering required
- 5+ years’ demonstrated experience developing using VBA, C#, SSRS, and SQL Server required
- Front-end and back-end (Full Stack Development) experience required
- Understanding of relational databases, SQL Server, MS Access & ODBC compliant databases
- Understanding of thick/thin client development and 3-tier application architecture
- SSRS–drill through reports, stored procedure calls, interactive reports, WinForms report-viewer control integration
- VBA (Excel Object Model, MS Access, MS Word). Form creation, database push/pull via ADO
- MS-SQL Server: T-SQL (stored procedures/views, job creation, connection to external sources)
- Visual Studio: (Window Forms, C#). Object oriented programming experience, ADO.Net, ODBC, .NET
- Familiarity with PDF manipulation and QuickBooks is a plus
- Must have exceptional attention to detail and be organized, follow through on assignments, meet deadlines, check own work
- Must be flexible and willing to accept change in priorities or development plans as necessary
- Ability to research and learn new languages/applications/tools as may be required
