    Cadasta is looking for a dynamic Communications and Design Specialist to support Cadasta's marketing, design, and communications efforts. The position will report to the Communications Director and will help execute deliverables for marketing, programs, and other outward facing projects. The Specialist will work with the Communications Director, contractors, and vendors on a diverse array of projects that include both design and content creation. The communications team works across our small organization to promote and support Cadasta's mission to document and strengthen land rights. This position requires a broad range of professional communication skills, including writing, editing, content development, social media, website management, and design. This job is an excellent opportunity to gain and build communications and design experience in an international organization. 

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS: 

    • Work with the Communications Director to promote Cadasta's work to international partners and audiences 
    • Work alongside the CEO, management, and the programs team to support business goals and organizational strategy 
    • Draft, edit, and review promotional content for Cadasta's website, reports, blogs, newsletters, proposals, social media, and press
    • Monitor and manage Cadasta's social media accounts (including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin) 
    • Leverage Google Ads and Facebook Ads to market Cadasta's work
    • Proactivley write project and partner summaries for promotional materials 
    • Assist team with presentation materials for events and conferences 
    • Uphold and enforce the Cadasta's branding guidelines and ensure compliance with donor branding requirements 
    • Create engaging graphics for social media, newsletters, articles, and other promotional needs
    • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications 
    • Maintain and update the Cadasta Wordpress website, including; keeping homepage content fresh, posting blog articles, creating new landing pages and keeping plug-ins updated and functioning
    • Report website and social media KPIs

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • A completed undergraduate degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. International Development, Marketing, Communications, Communication Design, Graphic Design, or Journalism)
    • 2-4 years of experience working in communications in an international development organization or think tank  
    • Self-motivated, team-oriented, strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to take on a variety of roles and tasks
    • Excellent English oral and written communication skills required, other languages a plus
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team
    • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop 
    • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms including Buffer, MailChimp, Wordpress, Google Suite
    • Experience with HTML and CSS
    • Demonstrated experience producing and managing a wide variety of content that engages audiences
    • Outstanding written, proofreading, and copy-editing skills
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to new and changing situations, usually under pressure and with deadlines
    • Print production experience 
    • Able to provide at least 3 to 5 design examples
    • Basic understanding of SEO and Google analytics
    • Experience with digital requirements such as pixel dimensions and compatible file formats
    • A good eye for layout and design and a basic understanding of the elements of design such as spacing, color, and typography
