    __JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Vice President of Development, M&A Analytics & Due Diligence will be responsible for leading the arm of the Development team responsible for analytics, valuation, and due diligence related to USPI’s successful execution of transactions, including ambulatory surgery centers and physician-owned surgical hospitals.  

    The USPI Development team is looking for a detail oriented, organized self-starter who can lead development execution. This individual will work closely with the Chief Development Officer, other senior members of the development team as well as Senior Management to meet the goals of the department and organization.

     

    Creativity, innovation, self-reliance, and an intuitive sense of deal pace and momentum are keys to success in this position. Experience successfully driving small and large M&A transactions will be necessary, with expert knowledge of valuation and modeling best practices, comprehensive project management skills, and experience leading and driving a team to meet clearly defined goals for non-organic growth.

     

    THE VP DEVELOPMENT’S ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

    • Define the due diligence process for acquisition targets, including creation of detailed work plans and coordination of key milestones.

    • Lead process and oversee team’s success in executing on key strategic transactions; develop and guide due diligence for new opportunities.

    • Ensure post acquisition synergies and expected performance targets are met during and after the business integration period.

    • Prepare and present financial analysis, projections and valuations of potential acquisition, de novo, and relocation targets, including strategic and operational analysis.

    • Lead preparation of ad hoc analyses in order to evaluate growth opportunities and support key corporate initiatives.

    • Foster and maintain relationships with USPI’s potential and existing health system and physician partners.

    • Develop and prepare short-term and long-range development plans and budgets based on corporate goals and objectives and recommends their adoption to members of the Executive Team. 

    • Partner with business leaders before, during and after the M&A processes, to ensure the deals make strategic sense, fit with forward-looking business plans, and are integrated smoothly and fully optimized.

    • Interface and communicate effectively with all company departments.

    • Participate with other Executives in developing strategy and corporate objectives and plans for their achievement, including key investment criteria and thresholds.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a top-tier university and an MBA or relevant graduate degree is preferred, strong record of academic success.
    • 15+ years' experience in investment banking, management consulting, FP&A, and/or M&A/corporate development.
    • Previous healthcare experience required.
    • Ability to identify strategic priorities and drive them to completion.
    • Expert MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
    • Prior experience leading team in fast-paced setting.
    • Well-developed multi-tasking and project management capabilities with efficient time management skills.
    • Represent the organization at all times. Be supportive of other managers and set an example of high personal and professional conduct and integrity for employees and others.
    • Strong strategic decision-making capabilities with the understanding of inherent risks and the implications of decisions and the courage to commit appropriate resources within the context of the strategy. 
    • Willingness to challenge the status quo by encouraging openness to new ideas and aggressively changing existing strategies, current structures, systems and processes to better utilize resources and take advantage of opportunities.
