Medical Records - HIM Coder lll / PRN, Varied
Coder III is accountable for the conversion of diagnoses, treatment and diagnostic procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases for all record types. Coder III is skilled in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement and for timely reducing and reporting on unbilled accounts.
Required Skills
- A current designation of CCS preferred
- Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles
- Understands and practices the principles of coding compliance and ethical coding practices Basic PC Skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
- Demonstration of good use of the English language with good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well independently, and in a team environment
- Ability to research identified problems with an initiative to identify possible solutions
- Ability to pay good attention to detail and to multi-task
Required Experience
- A minimum of one year coding experience in an inpatient or outpatient Hospital setting or equivalent course work
