SUMMARY: As a cook for the Showboat Branson Belle you may do a number of duties to include, but are not limited to, cooking to order, plating entrées, and ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen. Prepping and cooking for each two-hour dinner cruise takes a great amount of teamwork. Our cooks work together in a small kitchen to complete each task. Each applicant must be comfortable working in small areas and demonstrate a friendly, caring attitude.
MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reads menu to estimate food requirements and orders food from suppliers or procures food from storage
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to the recipe to prepare salads, sauces, and desserts
- Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, vegetables, and other foods
- Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking
- Observes and tests foods being cooked to order or in batch cooking
- Portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders

- Must be comfortable working on a moving vessel away from land
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds frequently to 200 pounds maximum
- The ability to stand and walk on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete continuously
- The ability to work in cramped quarters continuously
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
- The ability to remember locations, understand and carry out instructions
- The ability to work at a rapid speed continuously
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Must be able to successfully obtain Safe Serve Certificate after provided training
Required Experience
- Six months to one year of experience as a cook (cook to order and batch cooking) is required.
