  • Responsibilities

     

     

    Responsible for greeting customers, providing information, communicating with various departments, and scheduling appointments.

     

    1. Greets customers in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions and/or directions.  Informs appropriate department of person(s) arrival.
    2. Completes necessary paperwork. Uses computer system to generate information necessary for billing.
    3. Updates patient information, collects co-pays, provides any necessary forms needing completion, and obtains signatures, as necessary.
    4. Maintains clean, orderly waiting area (includes organization of reading materials). Monitors waiting areas and ensures patient flow is properly managed.
    5. Demonstrates willingness to cross-train in all areas where Medical Reception staff is expected to provide coverage.
    6. Supplements office staff, as reception tasks permit, by assisting with photocopying, computer input/typing, scheduling radiology appointments, medical records calls.
    7. Prepares daily deposits and processes end-of-day work.
    8. Maintains office supplies.
    9. Other duties as assigned by Administrator or designee.
    10. Assumes responsibility for continually striving to meet goals as established by the Facility. We share a commitment to the patient, to the Radiologists, to the Company, and to each other to strive toward the overall company goals that have been established.

    Required Skills

    1. High school diploma or GED required.

    2. Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service setting; preferably a minimum of six months of experience as a receptionist in a health care setting.

    3. Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm.

    4. Knowledge of medical terminology.

    5. Knowledge of reception tasks, office policies/procedures, and proper completion and distribution of required paperwork.

    6. Working knowledge on use of telephone and computer.

    7. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and on the telephone to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers.

    8. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks.

    9. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and/or written instructions. Ability to file correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.

    10. Predictable attendance and punctuality in reporting to work and returning from breaks and meal breaks expected.

    11. Ability to work varying shifts that change weekly and include Mondays through Sundays.
