  • Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility in compounding sterile products, daily stocking of anesthesia workrooms with drug, unit dose packaging and maintenance of floor stock, and maintaining appropriate inventory and records; assisting in related activities as directed by Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager or CNO in Manager’s absence.

    Required Skills

    • High school graduate.
    • State of Tennessee Pharmacy Technician certification.
    • Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
    • Previous pharmacy tech experience in hospital setting preferred.
    • Must have mathematical ability to calculate dosages and amounts required.
    • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
    • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
    • Exhibits knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the professional practice set by the Pharmacy Department.
    • Assists in keeping all work areas clean, neat, and orderly.
    • Exhibits knowledge of the pharmacy computer systems from the standpoint of a user of the system.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
