Position Overview Epicure Cafe is seeking a skilled and detail-driven Cafe Baker to join our team and help bring a sense of warmth, tradition, and craftsmanship to our daily offerings. Our concept is rooted in time-honored, family-inspired recipes, elevated through thoughtful execution and modern presentation.
This role is ideal for a baker who values both precision and creativity, someone who can execute classic baked goods with consistency while also contributing to visually compelling, custom-designed cookies and seasonal pastry features.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the guest experience through products that feel both nostalgic and refined.
Key Responsibilities:
· Execute a daily bake program including breads, cakes, pies, pastries, and cookies using established recipes and standards
· Maintain consistency in product quality, flavor, texture, and presentation across all baked goods
· Produce and decorate custom cookies and specialty items with a high level of detail, utilizing piping, icing, and design techniques
· Contribute creative input for seasonal features, themed products, and visual displays that align with the Epicure brand
· Collaborate with ownership/leadership to thoughtfully adapt traditional recipes when appropriate (e.g., dietary alternatives, production efficiency)
· Manage daily production timelines to ensure all items are prepared fresh and available for service
· Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and maintain proper product rotation and storage standards
· Uphold a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment in accordance with all health regulations
· Occasionally engage with guests, sharing product knowledge and reinforcing the story behind key menu items
Qualifications:
· Minimum 2+ years of professional baking or pastry experience in a café, bakery, or restaurant environment
· Demonstrated proficiency in cookie decorating, piping, icing, and fine detail work
· Strong understanding of foundational baking techniques and production workflows
· Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining consistency at scale
· High attention to detail in both execution and presentation
· Comfortable working independently in early-morning production environments
· Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish
· Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute within a small, team-oriented kitchen
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience working with or adapting traditional or heirloom-style recipes
A portfolio or examples of custom cookie or pastry design work
Experience with seasonal menu development or retail bakery merchandising
Exposure to alternative baking (gluten-free, vegan, etc.)
Culinary or pastry training (formal or equivalent hands-on experience)
