The Cake Decorator is responsible for the creation and decoration of cakes at the World Equestrian Center. This role works closely with both Executive Pastry Chefs on property to support the daily production of customized and standardized cake designs at both Emma’s Patisserie locations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in cake making and decorating, along with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include producing cakes for pastry displays, fulfilling custom cake orders, and crafting elegant wedding cakes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Consult with guests to discuss desired cake designs and decorating ideas for specialty cakes.
Weigh, mix, and bake multiple batches of cake batter according to standardized recipes.
Design and decorate cakes based on guest specifications and event themes.
Decorate standard bakery items in accordance with established bakery guidelines.
Assist pastry cooks with the production of standard bakery items as needed.
Prepare a variety of icings, frostings, and fillings tailored to cake types and customer preferences.
Ensure display refrigerators are clean, polished, and fully stocked with cakes, pastries, and desserts.
Take inventory of baking and decorating supplies and coordinate with the Chef to order stock as needed.
Clean and sanitize all work areas, ovens, and decorating equipment to maintain hygiene standards.
Exhibit strong communication skills, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Provide friendly and professional guest service, always maintaining a positive attitude.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including maintaining ServeSafe certification.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED required.
Proven experience in baking and cake decorating.
Trained in modern and contemporary cake decorating techniques.
Proficient in using a variety of cake decorating tools and instruments.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail.
Artistic and creative mindset.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills, both with team members and guests.
Basic math and accounting skills for calculating ingredients and discussing cake budgets with guests.
ServeSafe certification or equivalent.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
