    JOB SUMMARY

    Primary responsibility will be to provide testing support for our Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Development Team, to evaluate and test new or modified software programs to verify functionality according to user requirements. The incumbent will follow all Information Services (IS) guidelines/standards and develop best practices for application production deployment of services. Primary objectives include preparing and executing test scripts, defect tracking, and providing end-user support.

     

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Analyzes and contributes to the creation of documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
    • Estimates time required for execution. Identifies required test data.
    • Works closely with technical analysts and developers in application testing, such as system, unit, and regression testing methods.
    • Creates and executes test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications for production readiness.
    • Analyzes formal test results to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, or interoperability flaws.
    • Participates in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure that the defined business requirements are fully tested prior to roll out.
    • Communicates test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
    • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of all assigned testing project deliverables to meet business requirements. Identifies risks and issues and takes appropriate steps to mitigate and escalate, as necessary.
    • Develops and establishes quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned.

     

    POSSESSES THE ABILITY TO:

    • Apply strong knowledge of testing best practices and methodologies.
    • Understand business requirements and process analysis.
    • Perform the full range of Quality Assurance (QA) support in assigned systems area.
    • Analyze data and exhibit proven problem-solving abilities.
    • Perform QA functions using .NET, SQL, HTML, XML, API’s, Java Script, and JSON programming environments.
    • Understand and interpret user needs and make recommendations for specific data information technology solutions.
    • Multitask with on-going conflicting demands.
    • Prepare clear and concise technical documentation, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
    • Learn CalOptima-specific applications, functions, tools used (e.g., Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium), and data structures/sources in assigned area.
    • Learn and adhere to departmental operating policies and procedures.
    • Write specifications and application programs.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project) and job specific applications/systems to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.

     

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Services or related field or equivalent work experience in Information Services required.
    • 3 years of experience with Visual Basic. Or C# in a .Net environment required.
    • 3 years of experience with Microsoft (MS) Structured Query Language (SQL) Server required.
    • 3 years of experience with Visual Studio required.
    • 2 years of experience with MS Windows Server required.
    • Experience in all testing methodologies (white vs. black box test work, system vs. functional) required.
    • Experience in software process methodologies required.
    • Understanding of quality assurance as part of the development process required.
    • Experience with automated testing and defect tracking tools and technologies required.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 1 year of experience with Visual Studio and/or Team Foundation Server Application Lifecyle Management (ALM) preferred.
    • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry preferred.

     

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Design, development, and implementation of QA methodologies and strategies.
    • Project coordination and relational database management systems.
    • Project management and development using SQL.
    • Concepts of database and system security.
    • Computer architecture, in both hardware and software components.
    • Principles and practices of applications design and programming and software development lifecycles.
    • Methods and techniques of de-bugging programs and applications.
    • Principles of database administration.
    • Techniques of programming and coding.
    • Methods and procedures of program documentation.
    • Principles and practices of research methodology and data analysis.
    • Systems and procedures analysis and development.
