  • Responsibilities

    INVENTORY, RECEIVING & SHIPPING - AEROSPACE COMPONENT FABRICATOR

    The position will need to be able to grow into performing a variety of operations including inventory, shipping, receiving, and inspection while working in a fast pace environment. Additionally, the willingness to cross train in other functions may be expected such as assembly, welding and other operations on sheet metal aerospace components. All skills are not required initially but will need to show aptitude in a minimum of one skill set and the capability to grow into the other skill sets.

    FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Able to control and maintain inventory of flight hardware and able to work with inventory systems to ensure proper data entry of inventory transactions.

    • Duties include receiving and issuing parts, raw material or tooling, storekeeping and inventory control, cycle counting, scanning, document control, problem solving and housekeeping.

    • Participate in developing internal processes and department training of basic inventory control functions.

    • Independently perform stores functions to support our internal customers and maintain inventory control.

    • Solid understanding of internal computer applications for inquiries, report generation, department documentation, data entry and scanning.

    • Understand how to interpret and update work order documentation and other production documents.

    • Shipping duties include performing basic and specialized packaging and labeling activities per shipping best practices and shipping check list instructions.

    • Independently perform inventory control and shipping activities which support production, inventory control objectives and customer shipments.

    • Maintain logs, records and files, scheduling and prioritizing of receipts, document and batch control, and multi-departmental coordination.

    • Create reports and perform data entry of inventory transactions

    • Act as a focal point for routine receiving activities, department controls, and communications.

    • Receive and ship parts and material, which include activities such as inspection for and documentation of freight damage, stocking items, inventory control, packaging for internal as well as external part movement, and housekeeping.

    • Process and manage material through out the facility using material flow indicators.

    • Checks required dimensions using calipers, micrometers, height gages and other inspection tools or fixtures.

    • Ensures dimensions and finishes meet required tolerances and standards against sketches, blueprints, manufacturing planning and specifications.

    • Accurately documents inspection findings.

    • May train others on prior job experience.

    • Works under limited oversight

    • SECONDARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Able to gain and keep certifications and stamps as Quality Assurance Inspector up to date.

    • Capable of obtaining and holding required Exotic Metals weld qualifications/certifications.

    • Completes moderate to advanced fitting and welding tasks while applying standard practices.

    • Performs drilling, reaming, countersinking, and riveting, to assemble a variety of sheet metal sub-assemblies that meet required tolerances and standards.

    • Uses hand and power tools, to scribe, grind, deburr, size, and fit a variety of sheet metal detail parts, sub-assemblies or complete units. Adjusts alignment and mating pieces to required tolerances.

    • Performs spot-welding, seam-welding, poke tacking and braze preparation.

    • Performs repairs such as weld defects, assembly anomalies, dents and scratches.

    • Able to operate manufacturing machinery associated with typical aerospace processes.

    • Interprets and follows written instructions, sketches, weld schedules, drawings and documents.

    • Meets or exceeds operations standards for efficiency.

    • Knows when to stop and find appropriate interpretation when necessary.

    Maintains thorough understanding of how to produce quality parts.

    Must be able to use mathematics relevant to functions.

    Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

    Regularly evaluates his/her own area, processes, part quality and standards for continuous improvement.

    SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in Receiving, Shipping and Inventory functions while maintaining part traceability

    • Able to learn how to inspect a broad variety of parts.

    • Capable of assembly of basic to complex aerospace components.

    • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

    • Knowledge of shop math and precision measurement equipment.

    • Able to learn to assemble and welding aerospace components comprised of Nickel and Titanium Alloys.

    • Possess adequate knowledge of manufacturing to be able to anticipate problems in order to implement effective and productive inspection techniques.Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries from welding, assembly and machine operations.

    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Will need to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, hammering and handling of material.

    • WORKING CONDITIONS

              Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries from welding, assembly and machine operations.
