Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Perform calibrations and measurements traceable to NIST and the International System of Units (SI) using appropriately maintained reference standards. Test, inspection, and measurement equipment range from general-purpose physical and dimensional equipment to custom systems.
- Create and modify calibration procedures by determining metrology requirements from manufacturer’s manuals, laboratory methods, system requirements, or other approved documentation.
- Set up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements.
- Knowledge of calibration and measurement principles: measurement uncertainty, measurement traceability, measurement standards, test uncertainty/accuracy ratios, measurement system analysis (MSA), calibration intervals, and out-of-tolerance reporting.
- Place a strong focus on attention to detail while properly documenting calibration results into the calibration tracking database. As appropriate, issue Out of Tolerance (OOT) or Non-conformance (NC) reports.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and adjust/repair test and measurement equipment in support of new and existing projects.
- Serves as point of contact for instrument repairs requiring 3rd party servicing .
- Familiar with NIST, BIPM, NCSL, ASTM, ASME, or other organizations related to metrology, measurements, or standards.
- Work overtime when necessary to support high priority requests or meet project goals.
- Provide direction or training to lower-level technicians.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of prior work experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
Nice to Have
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute on daily tasks, and long-term objectives as demonstrated by self-prioritizing and managing work requests
- Knowledge of calibration and measurement principles: measurement uncertainty, measurement traceability, measurement standards, test uncertainty/accuracy ratios, measurement system analysis (MSA), SI units, calibration intervals, and out-of-tolerance reporting.
- Knowledge of the English and Metric measuring systems with the ability to perform mathematical conversions to each.
- Experience maintaining equipment service records and system logs or manuals, to document testing or operation of equipment.
- Familiar with NIST, BIPM, NCSL, ASTM, ASME, or other organizations related to metrology, measurements, or standards.
- Ability to work on assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
