    Job Description

    QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Audit EE timesheets accurately to ensure wages and benefits are properly distributed.
    • Collect and process EE Manual Timesheets, EE Time Off Request Forms, and EE Status Change Forms for Bi-Weekly payroll.
    • Collect Monthly work schedules and work together with Supervisors and Managers to add schedules to Kronos time keeping software.
    • Manage tax and withholding records and deductions for all federal, state, local and other taxes.  
    • Follow and calculate all outside wage garnishments requests.
    • Enter data into payroll and HRIS database; TalentPro.
    • Review payroll registers prior to transmission of funds.
    • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits. 
    • Prepare, process and print paychecks and direct deposits as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
    • Respond to payroll-related inquirires and resolve concerns made by Supervisors, Manager, HR, and EE’s.
    • Assist with Payroll projects and reports for auditing purposes.
    • Prepare periodic payroll reports for review by Management.
    • Report any updates or pertinent issues that need addressing to Supervisors, Managers, and HR.
    • Uphold and carry out company office policies and procedures.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

     

    ·         Knowledge of California wage and hour labor laws, preferably pertaining to agriculture industry. 

    ·         Knowledgeable and experienced in calculating overtime rates, shift premiums, accruals, etc.

    ·         Computer Knowledge; experience using Word, Excel and Outlook.

    ·         Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.

    ·         Kronos system experience is preferred.

    ·         Experience using office machinery (fax, printer, copier, phone system, etc.)

    ·         Communication skills – comfortable communicating over phone.

    ·         High motivated self-starter.

    ·         Organized and detail oriented.

    ·         Team player.

    ·         Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.  

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Businesses Administration, with emphasis in either Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Total Rewards & Compensation, or Business Taxation or related field. 5 years of experience in California payroll, preferably in agriculture industry.

     

    ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; Supports organization's goals and values; Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and vendors.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts to make conversions using variable units such as gallons, pounds and tonnages; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
