    Job Description

    The Sr. Systems Administrator will perform day-to-day IT support activities for California Waste Solutions Offices. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support to end-users on a variety of IT issues, in an effective and timely manner. The Sr. Systems Administrator will be the first point of contact for IT support and must be able to communicate and interact with both technical and non-technical users throughout various departments.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide support to end-users in an effective and timely manner. • Respond to IT help desk calls, emails and user requests for technical support both onsite and remotely. • Maintain the Desktop Environment by testing and deploying appropriate upgrades, updates and patches as needed. • Secure the computing (desktop, laptop and phone) environment through established IT policy and technologies by regular monitoring and auditing of the end-user environment. • Deploy and monitor anti-spam and anti-virus countermeasures. • Maintain records of equipment deployment, repairs and service requests • Respond to all IT infrastructure issues, including server installation, configuration, tuning, maintenance, and troubleshooting. • Provide installation and setup of video conference sessions. • Maintain and organize cabling and other physical infrastructure accessories. • Maintain inventory of issued and returned Company equipment. • Analyze, prioritize, resolve or escalate technical issues in a timely manner through the effective use of available resources. • Communicate expectations (issue, urgency, actions, timeline) for appropriate parties with a given issue. Follow-up on resolved issues. • Maintain a working knowledge of supported devices, technologies and software. • Provide secondary system administration support for servers and network infrastructure • Phone System administration, adding/editing extensions, VOIP and UCaaS experience a plus. • Create and/or maintain network user accounts. • Perform any and all other projects and duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalence in comparable job experience. • IT experience, as well as significant knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, practices and procedures • Minimum of 5 years serving in a System Administration, Network Administrator or similar role • 5+ years computer hardware and troubleshooting experience (A+ a plus). • 5+ years of experience with Windows XP in a windows network domain environment. • Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows security, Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) • Working knowledge of Ethernet networking and TCP/IP • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, AD, VMWare. • LAN/WAN networking experience is a plus. • Good troubleshooting skills with MS Office 2016/O365 applications is desired • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot a variety of end-user problems • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, printer and network issues • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies • Comprehensive working knowledge of the operation of desktop computers • Effective interpersonal communication skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships staff at all levels and peers • Willingness and skills necessary to find the root cause of issues along with solutions • Results oriented problem solver, well organized, and a team player with solid oral and written communication skills. • Travel required to assist Oakland, CA and San Jose, CA facilities.

    SCHEDULE: • Monday to Friday • May need to work Weekends and Holidays • Able to occasionally work off hours for planned maintenance, project implementations, or unplanned emergencies as needed.

    OTHER: A valid and clean driver’s license as travel to jobsites will be required. Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis. General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, bending. Must be physically able, unassisted, to lift and move computers, monitors, and other related equipment up to 50 lbs.

    THIS POSITION REQUIRES YOU TO BE PHYSICALLY ONSITE M-F, 8AM – 5PM. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
