    Application System Analyst California Western School of Law (CWSL) in San Diego seeks applicants for the position of Application System Analyst (Analyst) is responsible for researching and analyzing system applications to meet the needs of the institution with existing and future systems. This position consults with users to identify current operating procedures, problems, and requirements. The Analyst will work closely with the Director, Enterprise Applications Development to manage the planning and execution of the institutionrsquos enterprise resource plan. This position will also maintain project plans, plan activities and participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle to support existing system modules, implement enhancements, integrations, and new software modules within the enterprise system that is made up of vendor products integrated with customized software systems. This position is responsible for performing data analysis to manage user access restrictions of functions and data within the enterprise system applications. The primary responsibilities (include but are not limited to) Act as administrator for the user access restrictions, as related to the enterprise software system, which includes the additions, deletions and changes of permissions, entitlements, and business roles. Gather, correlate, and analyze system and resource information to plan and manage cross departmental activities. Assist business units, project managers and leadership in optimizing the scope, benefits, and risks of proposed projects. Work closely with business units, contracted resources, and vendors to manage release enhancements to software applications, with research, testing and production implementation. Support initiatives defined by the institution assisting with efforts to maintain a project portfolio. Manage the security matrix of identity and user access restriction for the enterprise applications. Review existing process models, RACI matrix, use cases, CRUD matrix, and functional models to identify all the roles and the level of access each person should have. Collaborate with functional leads to create test plans, analyses test cases, identify issues and determine plan to address issues. Assist with the creation andor review of application manuals, procedures, and related documentation ensuring application documentation is targeted to the appropriate audience. Assistparticipate in data mapping, and data conversion, related to application integration. Acts as a liaison between business units, information technology, consultants, vendors, and other areas within the organization related to analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of assigned applications to ensure optimal operational performance. May need to assist Information Technology resources with identity management and authentication as related to onoff boarding and attempts to obtain unauthorized access. Participate in working groups and committees, as well as professional development and training, as needed. Work with appropriate level of assistance, instruction, and supervision. Proactively advise the Director of Enterprise Applications Development of project status, potential issues, and overall departmental progress. Perform, with team approach, other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelorrsquos degree in Information Technology required. Must have 2-4 yearsrsquo experience as a Business Analyst. Must have experience with data integration and data exchange processes as well as Software Development Life Cycle methodology. Must demonstrate the ability to organize system data, knowledge of data ownership and stewardship, knowledge writing SQL queries, and understanding of database concepts and information models. Knowledge of higher education business process and operations preferred. The position requires effective communication, organizational, and time-management skills as well as demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability. Must be motivated to take action with confidence, ambition, and resilience. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are essential as well as demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks that are tactical and hands-on in addition to keeping focus on strategic goals and objectives. Skill Experience with data integration and data exchange processes. Experience with Software Development Life Cycle methodology. Experience with MS Visio, Excel, and Project. Knowledge of data ownership and stewardship. Understanding of database concepts and information models. Familiarity with cloud-based vendor systems. Experience writing SQL queries.
