Tax Accountant Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our firm as a Tax Accountant. As part of our team, you will have direct client interaction, working through monthly and annual bookkeeping and tax needs. You will assist in the preparation of financial statements, payroll tax reports and tax returns (incuding corporate, partnership and individual). Our ideal applicant has considerable experience in tax and financial reporting using Thompson Reuters Ultratax and Qucikbooks.

Financial Reporting Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with bookkeeping transactions
• Recording payroll and filing payroll returns
• Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
• Prepare financial statements for presentation

Tax Preparation Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
• Prepare federal and state income tax returns
  • Individual, corporate and partnership
  • Estate, trust and not-for-profit
• Assist with project planning and recommend implementation changes that could ease the client's tax burden

Tax Accountant Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Prior public accounting work experience
• CPA certification preferred
• Strong understanding of corporate tax laws and processes
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Expert-level knowledge of standard accounting software
