    **__**The commercial halibut and sablefish fisheries in Alaska began to be managed through an Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) program by NMFS in 1995. The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Alaska Enforcement Division (AKD) call center provides timely, confidential and efficient processing and dissemination of critical fisheries data. Data technicians are often the first point of contact that participants of the commercial halibut, sablefish and crab fisheries in Alaska have with the NMFS. As the Call Center Data Technician, you will process incoming data and reports, enter data in various database systems, and to notify officers of violations and provide officers with landing and permit information.

    What does a typical day look like for the Call Center Data Technician?

    **__**You will:

    • Receive and Process:
      • IFQ Prior Notices of Landings (PNOL's).
      • IFQ, Crab Rationalization and Guided Angler Fishing.
      • eLandings Customer Support Calls.
      • IFQ Transshipment Authorizations.
      • Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) Check-out Reports & Area Vessel Clearance.
      • IFQ Departure Reports.
      • Violation Reporting Forms.
      • Daily Cumulative Production Logs, Daily and Charter Fishing Logs.
      • Product Transfer Reports.
      • Foreign Fisheries Data.
    • Key-enter and sight verify of all data received.
    • Follow all existing procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
    • Ensure the quality of all data processed.
    • Meet processing schedules in accordance with the established time frames.
    • Maintain files of all input documents as required by local procedures.
    • Request the assignment of priorities by the AKD COR when workloads become excessive.
    • Inform the AKD COR of all machine malfunctions.
    • Create Enforcement Reports.
      • Generate custom reports from all databases and filing systems they maintain.
      • Assist authorized officers in preparing presentations of program reports.

    What qualifications do you look for?

    You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:

    • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 2+ years of experience in a call center, helpdesk, or administrative/data support role, ideally in a government or regulatory setting.
    • Strong phone presence.
    • The ability to communicate fluently, both verbally and in writing, in English.
    • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with federal or state fisheries regulations or willingness to learn.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Experience with database entry, customer relationship management (CRM) software, or government case tracking systems preferred.

    We are extra impressed by folks with:

    • Knowledge of Alaska fishery regulations.
    • Previous law enforcement call center experience (911, police dispatcher, etc.).
