  • Responsibilities

    Cambridge International Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Communications Engineer in Stuttgart, Germany. The Communications Engineer designs, installs, configures, and troubleshoots communication networks. They will evaluate projected network usage and develop hardware/software solutions; Plan, design, and implement network management systems to monitor, diagnose, control and measure performance of communication networks; Provide diversified systems engineering support for all U.S., NATO, and military communications activities associated with fixed and deployed LAN, WAN, and computer simulation equipment. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Analyzes network requirements, conducts risk analyses
    • Conducts and documents requirements analysis, engineer costs and system availability through the planning and integration of a wide variety of communications technologies
    • Provides technical support in the areas of LAN and WAN management and analysis, network configuration management, and problem analysis to include: satellite communications, commercial leases circuits, distributed processing, data compression, encryption, communication protocols, fiber optics, video teleconferencing (VTC), integrated services digital networks (ISDN), Windows NT based networks
    • Supports testing and integration efforts with specific emphasis on integration of US military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and intelligence (C4I) systems into war simulation environment
    • Defines, identifies, and supports implementation of modeling and simulation exercise planning requirements and concepts of operation
    • Assists in exercise communication and network planning
    • Performs strategic and tactical communications engineering, network analysis, asset management, and strategic planning
    • Provides technical briefings and leads other engineers in engineering working groups, configuration control boards (CCB), and exercise planning and requirements meetings

    Required Skills

    • Experience in telecommunications and/or network engineering in a large distributed environment with emphasis on military (US/NATO) operations
    • Knowledge of life-cycle management of LAN/WAN systems, test and evaluation, data performance and collection, quality assurance and metrics, design engineering, modelling and simulation analysis, facility infrastructure engineering (cabling, power, networking and patching facilities), and Microsoft Office applications

    Desired Skills:

    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional (CCNA/CCNP) or UNIX systems, network control center operations, requirement analysis, and computer-aided drawing, preferably Visio, experience

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree is telecommunications or electrical/electronic engineering or related discipline plus 3 years recent specialized experience; or Associate’s degree in telecommunications or electrical/electronic engineering or related discipline plus 7 years recent specialized experience, or major IT certification plus 7 years recent specialized experience, or 11 year recent specialized experience.
    • Active DoD IAT Level II certification. (Any one of the following: CCNA Security, CompTia Security+ CE, CompTia CySA+, GIAC GICSP, GIAC GSEC, ISC2 SSCP)
    •  Preference is for candidates that possess an active TS/SCI Security clearance. At a minimum, candidates must possess an active SECRET Security clearance.
